Importer Handbook
A practical guide for importers buying wholesale granite tiles, including standard sizes, finishes, packing methods and repeat-order considerations.
Granite tiles remain one of the most practical stone products for importers because they can serve residential, commercial and project applications across many markets. But in wholesale purchasing, success depends on more than choosing a color. Buyers also need to understand finish, size consistency, packing and repeat-order reliability.
Define the business use first
One of the most useful early questions is whether the order is for stock distribution, project use or a mix of both. Stock distribution often favours standard sizes and repeatable finishes. Project use may require custom sizes, special thicknesses or additional fabrication support. When this is not defined early, the supplier may provide a quotation that does not really match the business need.
Finish selection plays a major role in where the tile can be used. Polished granite tiles may be suitable for interior commercial or residential applications. Honed surfaces offer a softer appearance. Flamed or textured finishes are often more practical for outdoor use. Buyers should always match finish choice to the final application.
Check finish, size control and packing
Size consistency is equally important. Importers who sell to local fabricators or contractors usually need better dimensional control than buyers of rustic landscape products. The expected tolerance should be discussed early, especially if the product will be used in tighter pattern installations.
Packing is often underestimated by first-time buyers. Granite tiles need proper separation, pallet stability and clear export handling. Poor packing can create breakage, chipping or unnecessary warehouse loss. Suppliers with export experience should be able to explain exactly how the tiles are packed and loaded.
Think beyond the first shipment
Repeat-order stability is another key point. A granite tile line may look attractive in the first order, but long-term business depends on whether the supplier can keep material color, finish and packing consistent over time. That becomes even more important for distributors building a regular product line.
If you are importing wholesale granite tiles, send the target size range, finish, thickness, packing preference and market direction when asking for quotations. A more detailed enquiry usually leads to much better product matching and fewer surprises after shipment.
